Matthias Buchinger nació el 2 de junio de 1674… ¡sin brazos ni piernas!
Aunque esta malformación parecía presagiar una vida difícil, Matthias demostró ser un artista increíble con múltiples talentos… ¡incluida la magia!
Admire este retrato… ¡que en realidad es un autorretrato! De hecho, Matthias Buchinger era un talentoso dibujante, ¡y sobre todo un calígrafo! Este retrato esconde un secreto: si amplía la imagen a la altura del cabello, se dará cuenta de que en realidad está formado por frases.

Además de su talento para la microcaligrafía (¡sin brazos ni piernas, recordemos!), Matthias Buchinger era un músico consumado, dominaba casi media docena de instrumentos y, sobre todo… ¡era mago!
Un grabado lo representa en todas las artes que parece dominar (desde la fabricación de maquetas hasta el tiro). Una de las viñetas (la de abajo a la izquierda) lo representa como mago, frente a un juego de cubiletes.

Falleció en una fecha desconocida (hacia finales de la década de 1730). El célebre Ricky Jay se interesaría mucho por la excepcional vida de Matthias Buchinger y coleccionaría numerosos documentos sobre él. Con este fin, escribiría Matthias Buchinger: ‘The Greatest German Living’ .
