The Life of Dynamo, Magician

Behind the stage name Dynamo is Steven Frayne, born in 1982 in Bradford, an industrial city in northern England. Nothing predestined this young boy to become one of the most famous magicians on the planet.

His grandfather taught him his first tricks. Quickly, magic became an escape for him, an obsession, then a calling.

A... magical rise

In the 2000s, Dynamo began to make a name for himself on the streets of London, filming his tricks with a cheap camcorder. He stood out with a very "street magic" style, similar to David Blaine, but with a strong visual identity: black hoodie, sneakers, inner calm.

He got noticed backstage at concerts by impressing stars like Snoop Dogg, Coldplay, and Jay-Z. These viral videos opened the door to the media for him.

In 2011, his series "Dynamo: Magician Impossible", broadcast on the British channel Watch, became a phenomenon. It was watched by over 250 million viewers worldwide.


From urban magic... to modern miracles

What stands out about Dynamo is the blurred line between reality and the impossible, set against an everyday backdrop.

Among his most famous tricks:

  • Walking on the Thames, in front of stunned passers-by
  • Levitating next to a London bus while holding on with one hand
  • Turning ashes into a diamond in a spectator's palm
  • Retrieving a borrowed phone... from a sealed bottle


After several years of absence due to health problems, Dynamo returned to the spotlight with the documentary "Beyond Belief", broadcast on Sky. In it, he blends introspection, unprecedented effects, and a more mature perspective on magic.
